SAWUBONA

Where listening becomes shelteR

I see you.
I value you.
I accept you.

zulu greeting tradition,

South Africa

The
world
has forgotten
how to listen.

Today, many of us move through a world that feels increasingly LONELY and splintered.

Conversations happen quickly, positions harden easily, and attention is pulled in every direction.

Too often, we listen to respond, defend, or persuade.

Rarely do we listen simply to understand.

Sawubona exists to create a different kind of space — a third space where people can slow down and rediscover what it means to truly listen to one another.

Sawubona
is a community dedicated to rebuilding the lost art of listening.

___________

WHAT WE OFFER

A New Framework for Listening

We teach listening as a human capacity and civic practice, not a soft skill. Participants learn how attention, curiosity, and presence shape relationships, leadership, and community life.

Embodied Listening Tools

Through guided practices like the Listening Ladder and Listening Triad, participants learn how to hear beyond words — recognizing emotion, meaning, and context while strengthening their ability to witness others with clarity and care.

Training for Leaders
and Communities

Participate in our empowering workshops designed to promote self-discovery, personal growth, and resilience, fostering overall well-being.

Spaces to Be Fully Heard

We create structured environments — including dyads, circles, and reflective practices — where people can speak honestly without interruption and experience the transformative power of being received.

Practices for Self-Listening
and Regulation

We teach listening as a human capacity and civic practice, not a soft skill. Participants learn how attention, curiosity, and presence shape relationships, leadership, and community life.

A Tradition of Human Connection

Inspired by the spirit of Sawubona — “I see you”, our work helps communities rebuild the social fabric through dignity, curiosity, and the radical act of listening.

Listening begins with a conversation

Whether you're exploring a retreat, partnership, or simply want to learn more about the work, we’d love to hear from you.
